Secondary Book Club 2

Description

Secondary Book Club

The Kids’ Bookshop x VATE

Join with Erin, owner of The Kids’ Bookshop and teacher librarian, and Emma, VATE’s Education Officer, as they unpack and explore a diverse assortment of YA texts suitable for use in the English classroom and for recommending to high school students. With an emphasis on diverse Australian voices, Erin and Emma will lend their insights and experience to celebrating the ways the texts can be best applied in the classroom to engage reluctant readers and whet the reading appetite of the most voracious readers, as well as complement or substitute novel studies being undertaken in your school. Come along and add your voice to the discussion or simply tune in to hear how you may like to employ the texts in your classroom.

PLEASE NOTE: The cost of this professional learning activity includes copies of the titles discussed (mailed to the listed address) and access to the Zoom event and recording.

In this book club we will be looking at Jane Godwin’s new text, A Walk in the Dark, and Jane will be popping in as our special guest! Our other text is Hopeless Kingdom by Kgshak Akec which is inspired by the author’s own experience of migration from Africa to Australia.

Registrations close Tuesday 11 October.

Non-members can register through this webform.
